Need
To pass the needed funding to sustain Virginia’s regional trains for the next two years and ensure the Commonwealth has the funding to make vital passenger rail capital improvements.

- Senate Bill 29: FY 2010-2012 biennial budget
Budget Item 452 #1S - Senator John Watkins: Out of the amount contained in this Item, $67,241,000 the second year from the general fund, designated in accordance with the provisions of § 2.2-1514, Code of Virginia, shall be deposited in the Intercity Passenger Rail Operating and Capital Fund created pursuant to Chapter 868 of the 2011 Acts of Assembly. This deposit shall be permanent and nonreverting, and not subject to the provisions of § 33.1-23:02:2, Code of Virginia. This funding shall only be used for the operation and capital needs of Virginia intercity passenger rail services. - Senate Bill 30 and House Bill 30: FY 2012-2014 biennial budget
Budget Line 442 D - Senator Chuck Colgan & Delegate Lacey Putney: Notwithstanding any other provision of law, in implementing the provisions of the Intercity Passenger Rail Operating and Capital Fund created pursuant to § 33.1-221.1:1.3, Code of Virginia, the Commonwealth Transportation Board may allocate such funds as it deems necessary from the Rail Enhancement Fund, created pursuant to § 33.1-221.1:1.1, Code of Virginia.
